River Phoenix was an amazing actor, that he never got the opportunity to show his full potential is almost as tragic as the fact his life was cut so short. In the decade since his death a number of accusations have been leveled at him, that he was a fake and a hypocrite...he was neither of these things, rather a young man who bore the responsibility of providing for his family along with the pressures of fame the only way he knew how. He was young, he made mistakes and he paid for those with his life. For me he will always be remembered as someone who tried to live his life with love and respect for others and who was also a brilliant and talented actor whose contribution is greatly missed.
